NBA fans reacted to the shocking news of Chris Paul getting waived by the Los Angeles Clippers, almost midway through the 2025 season.
Under a post on X, NBA fans discussed the shocking news that NBA veteran Chris Paul has been waived by the Los Angeles Clippers. This came shortly after he had confirmed that the 2025-2026 season would be his last and he would then retire from professional basketball.
With that, fans expressed their disappointment at how his supposed farewell tour had gone.

“This a worse retirement tour than John Cena retirement tour,” one fan said.
“Bro thought he was gonna get the Kobe retirement tour,” another fan said.

The Los Angeles Clippers announced late Tuesday that they have parted ways with veteran point guard Chris Paul. Team president Lawrence Frank confirmed the move and said the organization will assist Paul with the next steps in his career, while taking responsibility for the club’s struggles rather than placing blame on the player.
Frank issued a statement to ESPN about the decision and explained that it was not about blaming the veteran for the franchise’s performance this season.
“We will work with him on the next step of his career. Chris is a legendary Clipper who has had a historic career,” Frank said in the statement. “I want to make one thing very clear. No one is blaming Chris for our underperformance. I accept responsibility for the record we have right now. There are a lot of reasons why we’ve struggled. We’re grateful for the impact Chris has made on the franchise.”
The official Clippers statement framed the decision as a mutual agreement, while stating that the front office will continue to evaluate the roster and its future direction.
NBA Fans Debate on What Could Be Next for Chris Paul
Over at X, NBA fans discussed what could be next for Chris Paul, and where he could fit in, considering that he had already announced this season to be his last in the league.

“Wait, Chris Paul is free?” one fan posted. “We are officially on Ring Watch. Name the team. I say he signs with the Bucks/Celtics/Lakers by the end of the week.”
For one fan, the move could be only a foreshadowing of a bigger move incoming, with the trade deadline approaching soon.
“Releasing him would mean the Clippers have 13 guys on standard contracts with minimal cap space to fill the two open spots,” the fan said. “Is a bigger move incoming?”
Right now, NBA fans are waiting for any updates on whether the waiving is the end for Chris Paul, or if something else is coming.
