The Los Angeles Clippers opened their season on the wrong note — and NBA fans wasted no time roasting them online.
Despite a star-studded lineup, the Clippers looked lost in their season debut, falling by 21 points to the energetic Utah Jazz. By halftime, they were already staring at a 47–78 deficit, struggling to find any kind of rhythm on either end.

Fans on social media didn’t hold back their reactions.

One fan said, “No worry, CP3 gonna hit a huge 3 to cut the lead down to 28.”
Another asked, “How are they so terrible with all the star players they have? I’m starting to think it’s a coaching issue.”
A third added, “We’re running that retirement home boi.”
The Clippers entered the season boasting veterans like Chris Paul, James Harden, and Kawhi Leonard, but the experience didn’t translate into chemistry. Against the Jazz, the trio combined for only 29 points, with Harden recording a double-double. Their lone bright spot came from Ivica Zubac, who held his own inside and finished with 19 points.
“That SGA Trade Sent Y’all Back 20 Years”: NBA Fans Keep Trolling
The loss only fueled more banter from NBA fans, many of whom took the opportunity to remind the Clippers of a trade that still haunts them years later.

After their 129–108 defeat, fans revisited the team’s 2019 blockbuster move that sent Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Danilo Gallinari, along with a massive haul of first-round picks, to OKC for Paul George.

One fan wrote, “That SGA trade sent y’all back 20 years ngl.”
Another replied, “The gift that keeps on giving,” referencing that same 2019 deal.
A third commented, “man russ you cost clippers the game again. oh wait y’all can’t use that excuse anymore.”

That gamble was meant to push the Clippers into title contention — but fast forward to 2024, and SGA has since led Oklahoma City to an NBA championship alongside Jalen Williams, a player selected with one of those Clippers picks.
Now, after just one game, NBA fans are already questioning if this aging Clippers core can still contend — or if that fateful trade has finally caught up with them.
