NBA fans can cling to Davion Mitchell as he expects his teammates to push for the championship this coming 2025-26 season.
After the second day of training camp at Florida Atlantic University, Mitchell told ClutchPoints that the team isn’t just thinking playoffs — they’re aiming for it all.

“I mean, I think we expect a championship. I think that getting to the Finals is our goal,” Mitchell said. “We’re not thinking about just getting out of the first round. That’s not really our thing. We just try to win a championship, and we have the depth to do it. We have the players to do it, I mean, hopefully we can stay healthy and have a good run.”
So that’s Bam, Norm and Davion all publicly stating they expect a championship this year.
I can absolutely get on board with this level of delusion 😍 https://t.co/bWY5MOtjCT

While Mitchell’s confidence might be what you’d want from a leader, NBA fans weren’t exactly buying in.
One fan joked,
“Someone tell him LeBron is no longer on his team.”
“Mind u this dude hasn’t won a single playoff round in his entire career.”

“wtf is Spo feeding these dudes, they are delusional and I love it and am here for it.”
The Heat didn’t have much to celebrate last year after being swept by the Cavaliers in the opening round. Still, Mitchell’s optimism shows the team believes its depth and health could turn things around this season.
NBA Fans Confuse Nikola Jovic for Jokic After Contract Extension
Mitchell’s championship talk wasn’t the only storyline getting attention in Miami. Forward Nikola Jovic signed a four-year, $62.4 million extension, as first reported by NBA insider Shams Charania. But the news quickly went viral for a very different reason: NBA fans thought Miami had somehow landed Nikola Jokic.

“Pat Rileys old ass probably thought he was signing Nikola Jokic when he gave that offer sheet in.”
A third wondered aloud,
“Did the Heat think he was Nikola Jokic by accident?”

While the mix-up sparked jokes, Jovic has shown flashes of his own potential. Last season, he averaged 10.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists on 45.6% shooting — solid numbers for a 21-year-old still carving out his role. Miami is banking on his growth to pair with Mitchell’s determination and the leadership of Erik Spoelstra as they chase a deeper playoff run.
