Paul George has heard the noise, and he decided to answer back. In a clip shared by @TheDunkCentral, the veteran addressed people calling him washed, saying,

“I knew that this league is about what you can do now, and they tend to forget everything that I have done.”

Paul George fires back at people who think he’s washed

“I mean, prior to coming here, I was coming off one of my most efficient seasons. All-Star that year. I didn’t see myself being washed that fast, but I knew. I knew that this league is about what you can do now, and they… pic.twitter.com/hGPkHFRckD

The quote quickly made its rounds, and NBA Fans had mixed reactions to how George handled the criticism.

Some NBA Fans understood where he was coming from. Careers do not disappear overnight, and George has years of strong play to point to. Still, others felt his response missed the point. The debate online was less about his past and more about how he chose to defend himself.

One of the most shared reactions came from @Derrekinho, who joked, “Should’ve never started the podcast man, that was the beginning of the end [skull emoji].”

For many NBA Fans, the comment hit on a familiar pattern. When players begin leaning into podcasts, shows, or side projects, it often signals that they feel the shift coming. It puts them under more scrutiny, not less, as fans start reading it as preparation for what comes after the game. In Paul George’s case, NBA Fans argued that the podcast did not help his image and may have unintentionally marked the opening of his final chapter rather than quieting the noise.

Another response from @PlayoffLucro questioned the logic of George’s defense: “Well why would people judge off what you’ve done when talking about the present lol.”

That comment reflected a larger theme among NBA Fans. The league moves fast, and past achievements rarely buy patience.

This moment isn’t just about whether Paul George still has value. It highlights how NBA Fans view accountability in real time. When players speak openly, they also open the door to instant feedback, memes included. For better or worse, George chose to engage, and NBA Fans made it clear that history alone will not silence current doubts.

NBA Fans React To Sixers’ Loss As Paul George Gets Respect After Final Buzzer

The conversation around Paul George did not stop with his comments. It carried straight into game night. The official @sixers account posted “final.” alongside a poster showing Philadelphia losing 117–120 to the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday, December 14th, 2025. Almost immediately, NBA Fans shifted from debates to blame.

A viral post from @GotthatCrnack read, “2 reasons why the Sixers lost tonight,” paired with photos of the referees and head coach Nick Nurse.

NBA Fans filled the replies, with many saying the officiating was rough and calling for the league to review the calls. Missed whistles and late decisions became the focus rather than individual players.

Still, not all reactions were angry. Some NBA Fans gave credit where it was due. @teemo__upt posted, “We should’ve won but GG Paul George.”

That message stood out because it separated the player from the frustration of the loss. Even critics acknowledged his impact in the game.

What stood out most was the split among NBA Fans. One group focused on officials and coaching. Another pointed to execution in key moments. And a smaller but loud section continued tying everything back to George’s earlier comments.

In the end, NBA Fans showed how quickly narratives change. One night it is about being washed, the next it is about respect after a close loss. For Paul George, the talk will not stop, and NBA Fans will keep reacting, win or lose, quote by quote and game by game.
