NBA fans gave their fresh reaction to the old video of Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan slapping then Charlotte Hornets star Malik Monk on the back of his head.
Over at social media platform X, NBA fans got a trip down memory lane when one user reposted an old video where Bull slgened Michael Jordan gave Malik Monk, then playing for the Hornets, a slap at the back of his head. For one fan, a slap by Jordan is something you just take in and let happen.

“You get head slapped by MJ, you take it and listen,” they said.

One fan, however, disagreed with the sentiment and saw something problematic with the gesture.
“Most people just dick ride people with status and money,” they said. “Just suck him up already. This mentality is how people like Epstein and Rkelly were able to move like the were.”
While some fans did not like the slapping at the back of the head, both Jordan and Monk downplayed the moment and did not see anything wrong with it. In an interview back then, they both dismissed the negative comments and assured fans that all is good between them.
“It was nothing,” Monk said of Jordan’s slap. “He was just playing. It’s Mike, and whatever he does is going to make [news] because nowadays it’s all social media, and everybody has their phone out there, and I wasn’t surprised.”
Jordan reiterated in interviews that there was no ill intent behind the gesture.
“It was like a big brother and little brother tap, “Jordan told reporters at the time. “No negative intent. Only love.”
Monk is currently in his ninth season in the NBA and is playing for the Sacramento Kings.
NBA Fans Talk Michael Jordan, Malik Monk Moment: “Father and Son”
Over at X, NBA fans talked about the old video of Michael Jordan slapping Malik Monk on the back of his head, after the latter got a technical foul by running to the court too early. For some fans, the moment is not problematic but rather more of a father-and-son moment.

“MJ really like Monk, that was like a father-son moment right there,” one fan said. “He probably wish Monk was his son after producing two worthless bums that came from his testicle.”
Another fan echoed the sentiment, giving it an analogy on a personal level.
“This is me and my dad when I forgot to take out the trash on pick up dad,” they said.
For the most part, NBA fans saw the gesture as a playful moment between the two and thus, no offense was taken.
