There’s no denying the impact former champion Shaquille O’Neal had when he first entered the NBA decades ago. Proof of his massive legacy can be seen in an All-Star Game jersey he wore that sold for a huge amount of money recently.

Earlier this year, the Orlando Magic celebrated a significant milestone: the 30th anniversary of O’Neal becoming the franchise’s first player to appear in the All-Star Game. This historic event took place in Salt Lake City during the 1993 All-Star festivities, where the Eastern Conference faced off against the West.

In that game, O’Neal made a notable impact despite the East’s 135-132 overtime loss. He scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds, demonstrating his potential on a national stage. Remarkably, he shot better from the free-throw line, hitting 6 of 9 attempts, than from the field, where he went 4 for 9.

The game itself was thrilling, with notable players like Michael Jordan leading the Eastern Conference with 30 points. The West, fueled by stars such as Karl Malone and John Stockton, ultimately triumphed, with both earning MVP honors.

Since the big man’s debut, the Magic have seen several other players achieve All-Star status, including Anfernee Hardaway, Dwight Howard, and Nikola Vucevic. The former NBA champion’s legacy as the franchise’s first All-Star remains a point of pride for the organization and its fans.

As it stands, the same jerset O’Neal wore to his first All-Star Game was put up for auction by Lelands. According to a tweet by Darren Rovell on X, that piece of basketball memorabilia sold for an insane amount of money.

Recently, O’Neal’s high school jersey fetched an impressive $136,793 at auction, highlighting the strong market for sports memorabilia related to the basketball legend. In contrast, a game-worn uniform from O’Neal’s 1993 All-Star Game sold for an astounding $90,541.20 by Lelands.

While both items showcase Shaq’s storied career, the high school jersey’s sale demonstrates the growing interest in early memorabilia compared to the established value of his professional gear. This trend underscores O’Neal’s lasting impact on sports culture and the memorabilia market.
