    Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are becoming household names for Boston Celtics fans. Both chosen to represent the Celtics for Team Shaq in the 2025 All-Star Game. Tatum put in a total of 21 points with Brown scoring 12 points for Team Shaq in mid-February.

     Celtic Player Breakdown

    Jaylen Brown was drafted by the Boston Celtics in 2016 and since has played for them for 9 seasons as a shooting guard.

    Brown was named the NBA Eastern Conference Finals Most Valuable Player and Finals MVP in 2024.

    Jayson Tatum is in his 8th season with the Celtics, has never been acquired or traded to a different team since being drafted in 2017.

    Tatum was named the NBA Eastern Conference Finals MVP in 2022 and the All-Star MVP in 2023.

    Into the Numbers

    In a regular NBA season, Tatum averages 23.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. Accumulating 13,406 points, 4,182 rebounds, and 2,151 assists throughout the 571 regular season games he has played.

    Brown in a regular season averages 19 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. Overall he has played 592 games and accumulated 11,238 points, 3,155 rebounds, and 1,553 assists throughout his NBA career. 

    What does this mean?

    Although Brown has played for the Celtics one more year than Tatum in the regular season, Tatum has better averages in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks than Brown.
