Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant could find himself in Texas soon as the 2024-25 NBA season has not been kind to him and his team. With a 19-19 record, the Suns have had a difficult season. The Suns have tried to make things work with their Big 3 of Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, which could end if Phoenix fails to become legitimate contenders.

The Suns formed their All-Star trio in hopes of becoming a threat to win the title. Unfortunately, multiple hurdles have kept the team from making noise in the Western Conference. One aspect that has heavily affected their title championship status is their players’ health.

Phoenix has dealt with various injuries to their players and their star trio is of no exemption. Among the team’s best players, Beal has had limited action since they acquired him in 2023 due to various injuries. This season, it’s more of the same as the three-time All-Star has only played 28 games.

Amid the team’s tumultuous season, The Ringer’s Michael Pina proposed that the Suns should trade Durant. The NBA writer suggested the Houston Rockets as KD’s next destination, which could work well as they have a young talent that needs a veteran presence.

“KD is the rare offensive talent who’d make the Rockets (currently second in the West) a legitimate threat to win it all without mangling the long-term development of anyone else on that roster,” Pina wrote.

“Durant still has immense trade value for any team that’s interested in winning, but thanks to the second apron, Phoenix can’t take back more money than it gives out or aggregate multiple contracts, which quashes so much possibility.”

The Suns owe Durant $51,179,021 million, and the Rockets can include players like Fred VanVleet, Jeff Green and Jalen Green to acquire the star forward, per Pina.

Kevin Durant commented on the team’s “vibes” following reports of tension in the locker room

One of the problems that the Suns have faced this season is rumors regarding the state of their locker room. Tension in the locker room has reportedly been reported, which has hurt Phoenix’s chances of competing with Kevin Durant and other elite players.

Durant spoke about the team’s locker room culture after Sunday’s 120-113 victory over the Hornets.

“The vibes have always been good to me,” Durant said. “From the outside looking in, it’s tough because we’re losing. But for the most part, everybody’s coming in, trying to figure stuff out, working hard, coming in here with energy, enthusiasm for the game of ball.”

The Suns have recently gotten their groove back with a three-game win streak. They look to extend it on Tuesday against the Atlanta Hawks.
