While Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns have been recently on a roll, there is still a level of uncertainty regarding KD’s future with the team. The Suns captured their fourth straight win on Monday, with the 36-year-old star forward leading the way with 38 points.
There are still a few rumors about where Durant might end up once the 2024-25 season is over. Many analysts predict that the 15-time All-Star is likely to switch teams if the Suns do not make it to the playoffs this year.
Another fresh rumor recently arose about KD’s potential new destination being an Eastern Conference team. Sports commentator Nick Wright told his “First Things First” co-hosts on Tuesday that the 6-foot-11 forward might be joining the Boston Celtics.
“Two totally unrelated people, both of whom have reputations for knowing things that other people don’t know, have said to me, ‘Watch out for Durant in Boston,’” Wright said.
Wright said that KD being linked to the Celtics is similar to his situation with the Golden State Warriors. That could mean that Celtics Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown could stick around and potentially team up with Durant in Boston.
“I don’t know even the pieces that would work and it feels a lot like what Durant got killed for with Golden State before,” Wright added.

The Suns are currently 10th in the Western Conference with a 35-37 record, tied with the Dallas Mavericks.
Their slim chances of making it to the playoffs could determine Kevin Durant’s future with the team.
Kevin Durant talks about possibly playing for the Celtics
In 2018, there were talks that Kyrie Irving wanted to team up with Anthony Davis and Kevin Durant in Boston. The star point guard said that he, Durant, and Davis wanted to play with Jayson Tatum, who at that time was still an up-and-coming star.
“It was a dream for Kyrie, AD, KD to be on one team and still keep JT and let him grow and then see how it goes,” ESPN’s Tim Bontemps posted on X.
Kyrie Irving said he, Anthony Davis and Kevin Durant talked about playing together in Boston back in 2018, with the hope to do so eventually alongside Jayson Tatum.

The dream trio did not come to be in Boston, but Durant and Irving were able to team up in Brooklyn in 2019. Unfortunately, the Nets could not reach an agreement to sign Davis to be their third star player.

Davis would be signed to the Dallas Mavericks in a blockbuster trade before the deadline last month, allowing him to team up with Irving. However, AD would get injured in his debut game for the Mavs. Irving also had his season prematurely ended following an ACL tear.
