The LA Lakers is already a mainstay name in the rumor mill, with new people rumored to be either leaving or new people the team may be eyeing to sign always part of new trade rumors. This time, an NBA insider suggested a potential trade involving the Lakers letting go of one of their star players, in exchange for the chance to rebuild their roster from the ground up.
In a potential trade proposed by Anthony Irwin, the LA Lakers may trade off some of their less-utilized team members in exchange for new ones that they may develop around Anthony Davis and LeBron James.
In the proposal, one leg of the trade would involve the LA Lakers giving away Gabe Vincent, Christian Wood, and three second-round picks to the Washington Wizards in exchange for center Jonas Valanciunas.

Then, give away D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Jalen Hood-Schifino, Cam Reddish, two first-round picks, two second-round picks to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Dorian Finney-Smith and Cameron Johnson.
The trade proposal finalizes the roster overhaul with the Lakers signing Orlando Magic point forward Markelle Fultz.

This trade proposal goes in line with previous LA Lakers statements of needing a center (the trade for Valanciunas) and the need for them to boost their defensive capabilities (the trade for Finney-Smith).
Anthony Davis Leaving LA Lakers If LeBron Retires?
Anthony Davis leaving the LA Lakers is something that, at first glance, may look like a story that has not chance of becoming a reality. After all, the Lakers’ head coach JJ Redick has obviously been implementing a strategy that heavily relies on Davis taking care of the scoreboard for the team.

For Davis, he has done his part and has been a strong score-making machine for the LA Lakers, and has brought the team to the 2020 championship and the inaugural 2023 NBA Cup. Still, one analyst believes that it’s not beyond AD to leave the LA Lakers should LeBron decide to pack up and make his retirement official.
“I wouldn’t say it’s inconceivable that he asked out, but I think he’s been pretty happy in L.A. and I think he’s aware of LeBron’s plans,” said Jovan Buha of The Athletic. “I also think if he wants out, I think the Lakers should just honor that because it’s like at that point, if LeBron retires maybe it is best to rebuild and just keep your picks and then maybe at that point, they have kept their picks and just kind of punted on this season and next season.”
