The Minnesota Timberwolves may be looking to shake up their roster again as they are reported to be a strong name for the upcoming NBA trade deadline in early 2025.
ESPN reporter Tim Bontemps stated that the Timberwolves will be an active player in the coming NBA Trade Deadline, as they seek to improve their roster to a championship-level team, rather than the bottom qualifier that they are right now.
“That’s why Minnesota has been labeled by league decision-makers as a potential player between now and the Feb. 6 trade deadline. Yes, the Wolves are coming off comfortable victories against the reeling Lakers and shorthanded Clippers, but they have higher aspirations than battling for the last play-in spot, which is where they currently sit
“Just because you’re trading for talent, it has to be the right fit. They have to learn and adjust,” a scout told Bontemps, according to the same report. “Making a trade that late [right before training camp] is hard. So I’m empathetic.”

Julius Randle came to the Timberwolves in a three-way thread earlier this year that involved Minnesota, the New York Knicks, and the Charlotte Hornets. The deal was for the Timberwolves to improve their roster and manage their salary cap, and for the Knicks to get a big man in the person of Karl-Anthony Towns.
While Randle performed fairly well, averaging so far of 21.2 points per game, 6.9 rebounds, and 4.1 assists, he has been facing concerns in defense challenges as well as having good chemistry with other team players, with misplays and disconnect in play style often leading to lost opportunities and sometimes, even lost games.

Mike Conley Comments on Minnesota Timberwolves Comeback
After suffering a four-game loss streak, the Minnesota Timberwolves managed to make their comeback against two Los Angeles teams, the Clippers and the Lakers. They won against the Clippers twice, replacing their recent losing streak with now a three-peat win streak.
Talking about his comeback, Timberwolves guard Mike Conley described their experience as a “back against the wall” moment.
“It was a back against the wall moment for all of us,” Conley said. “One where you look up & the season can go one way or the other. You can hit rock bottom really quickly. We had to put our foot in the ground & say what do we want out of this season?”
The Minnesota Timberwolves have yet to win a championship, or even reach the NBA finals. During the 2023-2024 season, they reached the Western Conference finals but ultimately lost to the Dallas Mavericks.
