Lamar Odom’s infidelity destroyed his marriage to Khloé Kardashian, but not before she gave him some brutally honest advice about his destructive behavior. The former Los Angeles Lakers star’s sex addiction spiraled so far out of control that it cost him everything.
Odom’s cheating wasn’t your typical NBA player stepping out on his wife. The two-time champion frequented brothels, putting his health and marriage at serious risk. When Kardashian learned how far it went, she got tested for STDs because of the places Odom had been visiting, and she lost her mind following the discovery.
So, recently, she offered blunt advice to her ex on live TV.
Khloe Kardashian Was “Completely Blindsided” by Lamar Odom’s Brothel Obsession
The damage to their relationship was irreversible. Kardashian and Odom divorced in late 2016 after years of trying to salvage what was left. But before signing the final papers, Khloé delivered some real talk to her ex.
“You do whatever you wanna do, but please promise me you’ll never go back to a disgusting brothel again. If you wanna pay someone, pay someone in the privacy of your hotel room,” she told Howard Stern during a candid interview.

Seems like Kardashian had accepted Odom’s issues wouldn’t change overnight. She wasn’t asking him to stop completely — just to be smarter and safer about his choices because her concern is real.
Odom later admitted his addiction had completely taken over his life. In a 2020 sit-down with Graham Bensinger, the former Sixth Man of the Year revealed how far things had gone. His sex addiction became more important than basic necessities like breathing, living fully, and being mentally present.
His honest confession at that time painted a dark picture of Odom’s rock bottom. He was literally a guy who won two rings with Kobe Bryant, made millions in the league, and married into one of America’s most famous families. Yet he threw it all away chasing temporary highs at brothels.
Odom’s downfall serves as a cautionary tale about untreated addiction. His demons didn’t just cost him his marriage — they nearly cost him his life during a 2015 overdose at a Nevada brothel.
The ex-Laker has worked to turn things around since hitting rock bottom. He’s been open about his struggles and committed to recovery, though the road hasn’t been smooth.

“I am learning and remain committed to my continued growth,” Odom told TMZ. “I’ve worked hard to rebuild my life, and taking responsibility is an essential part of that process.”
He said he is fully cooperating, trying to stay honest, and focused on moving forward the right way, while thanking those who continue to support him.
