On Monday, ESPN’s Shams Charania provided an update on Zion Williamson, the star of the New Orleans Pelicans, who is now sidelined due to a hamstring injury. On Saturday, the Pelicans revealed that Williamson will be out indefinitely due to a left hamstring strain.
In the team’s first ten games of the year, the All-Star forward has played in six. During his healthy stretch, Williamson has averaged 22.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists. Unfortunately for the Pelicans, the 6-foot-6 player won’t be available for some time.

Charania revealed the star could miss at least four to six weeks due to the injury. However, he said the organization isn’t sure how long Williamson will be out.
“Zion Williamson will be out for several weeks,” Charania said. “This is an injury the Pelicans are bracing for him to be out about 4-6 weeks. His return will be based on rehab and how that treatment goes.”
“We know the Pelicans with Williamson, they said indefinitely. They are not sure exactly how long this rehab will take him. This is devastating for a Pelicans team that have been ravished by injuries all season.”

The Pelicans‘ players haven’t been in the best of health. In their 107-105 Monday loss against the Brooklyn Nets, they submitted six players on their injury report, including Williamson. Jordan Hawkins (lower back), Herb Jones (shoulder), Karlo Matkovic (G League), CJ McCollum (adductor) and Dejounte Murray (hand) are all out. Trey Murphy III was listed as probable before the game and was upgraded to available.
New Orleans Pelicans linked to Pistons forward amid roster injuries

The New Orleans Pelicans aren’t in the best situation this season. With a 3-8 record to start the year and multiple players on the injury report, a roster change could be their best option to address their issues.
According to Jonah Kubicek of Sporting News, a trade involving Isaiah Stewart of the Detroit Pistons could help their interior defense. The Pelicans are 29th in the league in defense, and addressing now could help them perform better.
“He is only 23 years old and has a team option in 2027-28, making him a $15 million-per-year quality big who would fit in well with the current Pelicans’ roster. Detroit likely won’t let him go for cheap, but the Pelicans could offer rookie Yves Missi and Brandon Ingram, as well as draft capital, to take on Stewart and Tim Hardaway Jr,’s expiring deal,” Kubicek wrote.
