The New York Knicks are on a two-game losing streak, following a 111-99 loss against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night, and head coach Mike Brown believes they deserved to get booed by the Madison Square Garden crowd.
For the first time this season, the New York Knicks scored below 100 points. Their pitiful offensive display has seen them shoot 21 percent from three-point land and 37 percent from the field overall. They also allowed the Atlanta Hawks to score 58 points inside the paint and ceded 17 points off their 15 turnovers.
“It’s how we played. I was booing myself inside. ‘Boo Mike, you stink.’ They have a right to boo me & everyone else, especially the way we’re guarding and not getting back in transition. It’s tough to stomach because you’re not giving yourself a chance,” head coach Mike Brown said during the postgame presser.
“If the shot’s not falling, where else are we going to hang our hat? It has to be on the defensive end of the floor,” he continued. “We didn’t get it done throughout most of the game tonight… I thought we had some good looks that we normally knock down with the guys that are taking them, but you can’t take away from what Atlanta did.”

New York Knicks News: Jalen Brunson laments latest defeat vs. Atlanta Hawks
Jalen Brunson, who won the Eastern Conference Player of the Month award for December 2025, did all he could to keep the New York Knicks afloat against the Atlanta Hawks. He had a team-high 24 points and five assists, but only went 10-for-23 from the field in 35 minutes of action.
“We just didn’t have it tonight. I know that’s a terrible, lame-ass excuse, but we let shot-making affect our overall gameplay,” Brunson said. “That includes our pace, sense of urgency, everything. Just wasn’t our solid basketball today.”
“There’s no excuse, we’ve just got to be better,” Mikal Bridges added. “It is what it is, you’ve got to learn from it and get ready for tomorrow. Obviously, we’re missing three key guys, but we’ve got everybody else in this locker room to come in and step up.”
