Carmelo Anthony didn’t win a championship during his seven-year reign with the New York Knicks. However, nobody can deny his impact on the Knicks, the other franchises he played for, and basketball culture with his iconic play style and swagger.

The ten-time All-Star was announced as one of the latest additions to the 2025 Hall of Fame class. Friends and colleagues around the league celebrated his inclusion into the illustrious Hall, saying that he deserved to have his name immortalized despite the lack of silverware to show for it.

While he joins former teammate Dwight Howard in the 2025 class, the man of the hour shares his honest thoughts on his enshrinement to the Hall.

Carmelo Anthony calls the Hall of Fame inclusion his ‘greatest accomplishment’

The former Knicks superstar, who last played for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2021-22 season with the Los Angeles Lakers, emphasized how big the inclusion is for his legacy as a basketball player.

    Per Sports Illustrated’s Logan Struck:

“This is the greatest accomplishment that I ever will attain,” Anthony said about his Hall of Fame induction

He also talked about having his jersey retired with the Knicks and Nuggets, despite the latter being unlikely, given his messy divorce with the team in 2011:

“Why not?” Anthony asked about getting his jersey retired. “So we’ll see, but I would love to see that, man. For me it’s like, why wait? You know, it’s why wait? If you got to think about it, then cool, just let it be… I would like to see that jersey in both rafters, Denver and New York.”

Anthony was an unstoppable scoring force during his peak years with the Nuggets and Knicks.

Anthony averaged 24.8 PPG during his eight-year stint in Denver while converting 46% of his shot attempts in a more compressed era of NBA basketball. He continued his dominant run with New York, maintaining his scoring at 24.7 PPG while raising his shot attempts to 20 a night.

Indeed, he never brought a championship to the teams he played with. However, his knack for making the ball from the triple-threat position made him one of the most difficult players to contain. Moreover, his confidence whenever he had the ball in his hands influenced the next generation of hoopers.

The tail end of his career saw Melo take his talents to Oklahoma City, Portland, Houston, and Los Angeles.
