“Unbelievable” – New York Knicks’ New Head Coach Summarizes the Team’s Offseason Aquisitions

The New York Knicks didn’t go crazy with the offseason moves they made at the start of the NBA free agency. By far, the biggest move the Knicks made this summer was the signing of Jordan Clarkson to a one-year, $3.6 million contract. This solves a major issue for the team, as they needed a scoring punch from the bench, and Clarkson’s ability to get hot as a backup could give the team an advantage.

On Monday, the Knicks also made sure to secure their next head coach after firing Tom Thibodeau. New York had Thibs as the head coach for five seasons, and he led the team to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 2000. Nevertheless, the management believed it was time for him to leave despite his achievements.

After a long search, though, the Knicks finally landed on signing Mike Brown as the new head coach. He was officially introduced to the media on Tuesday, where he complimented the offseason moves of the team.

“Again the versatility that Leon [Rose, team president] keeps adding to this team is unbelievable,” Brown said in his introductory press. “Jordan, the things that he can do, especially offensively. He’s a veteran guy. I know he’s hungry to win. He can score at all three levels. You’re excited with that coming to the table. He’s also a better playmaker than he’s given credit [for].”

“I’m looking forward to seeing some of that, too, because I’m huge when it comes to touching the paint and looking to spray that basketball out to get your teammates easy shots.”

The New York Knicks also signed French forward Guerschon Yabusele to a two-year, $12 million contract.

There’s a lot at stake for anyone who takes a head coaching job for the New York Knicks. Given that it’s a big market team that’s consistently expected to contend for an NBA title, being the Knicks’ head coach might be too much for some people. However, Mike Brown is taking the challenge head-on and isn’t shying away from the pressure and expectations.

“Nobody has any bigger expectations, first of all, than I do. I mean, my expectations are high,” Brown said. “But this is the Knicks. I talked about Madison Square Garden being iconic. You talk about our fans. I love and embrace the expectations that come along with it, so I’m looking forward to it.”

Given that the New York Knicks made it to the conference finals last season, the management expects Brown to lead the team to the NBA Finals and potentially a championship.
