Karl-Anthony Towns doesn’t seem to be bothered by the fact that he sat on the bench in the final seven minutes of the New York Knicks’ 103-87 home win against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night, where his team went on a 21-9 run to close the game.
While many are confused as to why Towns hasn’t played more than 30 minutes in three consecutive games, the New York Knicks center emphasized his trust in head coach Mike Brown in making decisions during his postgame interview.
“He saw what he saw,” Towns said via Ian Begley of SNY. “We got a win. That’s the most important thing… That’s all I care about, this team cares about, New York cares about — the wins.”
The five-time NBA All-Star finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists on 5-for-15 shooting from the field in 27 minutes of action. Mitchell Robinson replaced him in the New York Knicks’ closing lineup against the Sacramento Kings.

New York Knicks News: Mike Brown shares the rationale behind benching Karl-Anthony Towns vs. Sacramento Kings
The New York Knicks took control of the Sacramento Kings in the final period, outscoring them 31-15, and it was the lineup of Jalen Brunson, Miles McBride, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, and Mitchell Robinson that finished the game.
“At the end of the game, we had a group out on the floor that was playing well,” Brown said of his decision via Jared Schwartz of the New York Post. “It was a tight ballgame, so I just rode that group to the end of the game, which I’ve done before. We have Deuce out there, who’s not a starter, and Mitch out there, who’s not a starter. We needed to get the win.”
“During the flow of the game, you find a group of players that you feel are playing well together,” he continued. “And you roll with it as long as you can.”
