The New York Knicks are suddenly on a five-game winning streak, following their 127-97 rout of the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night, and head coach Mike Brown praised his players for tightening their defense during their unbeaten run.
Yesterday, Brown gave a special mention to Karl-Anthony Towns, who has shown a different side of himself. The five-time NBA All-Star, who is not exactly known for his defensive chops and motor, has notably grabbed at least 20 rebounds in his past two appearances.
“To me, that’s what great players do,” Brown said of Towns via the New York Post. “They impact the game in a lot of different ways. For him to have 22 (rebounds) against Toronto and 20 tonight, double-double, that was huge because six of those were offensive rebounds and we beat them (in second chance points), and they’re a very, very, very good offensive rebounding team.”
“The rebounding, what he’s been doing these past couple of games has been great,” Jalen Brunson added. “We need that from him, that’s what he brings to the table. Offensively, when the ball’s not going in as much as it should be, he finds a way to impact the game. I think that’s really important for us. Big-time performance for him.”

New York Knicks News: Mike Brown addresses trade chatter involving the team ahead of February deadline
The New York Knicks have been named as one of the top suitors for Giannis Antetokounmpo, who the Milwaukee Bucks are considering trading before the February deadline, and head coach Mike Brown addressed the rumors during a recent interview.
“We understand that we have no control over the noise out there, so we have to have a bunker mentality. Not just at the trade deadline but all the time because there is a lot of noise out there,” Brown stated. “We’re all human, and you try not to listen to it – you just try to stay together. You keep moving forward, trying to get better as the days go along, and I think that’s what this group is trying to do.”
According to reports, Karl-Anthony Towns, the highest earner on the team, harbored some hard feelings toward the front office when the New York Knicks included him in potential packages for Giannis Antetokounmpo last summer.
