New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson has had multiple amazing moments in the NBA. During the 2025 playoffs, he added another iconic moment during their first-round series against the Detroit Pistons. In Game 6 of the series, Brunson had the chance to seal the win for the Knicks to advance to the second round. He took advantage of it, ending the opening round series dramatically.
His co-star, Karl-Anthony Towns, is no stranger to those moments. While he was with the Minnesota Timberwolves, he cemented his legacy as one of the best closers in the league. Even in his first season with the Knicks, Towns had historic moments in the fourth quarter.
However, the game-winning shot that Brunson had over the Pistons overshadowed the ones he had before. On Wednesday, he appeared as a guest on the show “7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony.” KAT talked about what makes his co-star’s game-winning shot better than his.
“That show was crazy. That was like one of those moments where it’s like, when you see him do the crossover, you know he about to make it,” Towns said.
“I laughed with him after the game cause I said, ‘It’s so funny that the game before, I was hitting those shots.’ He comes back, and he makes his game-winner look way better than mine.”

Brunson had one of the best opening-round series against Detroit. In six games, he averaged 31.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 8.2 assists. In Game 6, the All-Star guard finished with 40 points and seven assists 45.5% shooting from the field.
KAT had a 2-hour dinner with the New York Knicks’ new head coach
The New York Knicks had one of the best playoff runs last season. For the first time since 2000, the Knicks returned to the Eastern Conference finals. Although they lost in six games to the Indiana Pacers, it showed that they can be a contending team in the league.
However, the management decided to let go of head coach Tom Thibodeau after five seasons. The Knicks replaced him with former Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown. According to Towns, he had the chance to meet with the team’s new head coach and got to know him better over a two-hour dinner.
“We have a chance to win a championship and that’s only going to happen if everyone’s connected. And everyone has to be fully invested into each other and to our goal.”

Anthony asked KAT if he thinks the New York Knicks need one more piece to truly become contenders. Towns dismissed that and said that the team showed last season how good they can be, and have enough pieces to be a championship team.
