Since becoming a star, Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets has had a significant influence on the NBA. But aside from basketball, there’s another thing that Jokic is very invested in, and that’s his horses. Every offseason, Jokic spends time taking care of his horses and training them for races.
Even during the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend, there were questions about his horses. Jokic isn’t shy to let everyone know that he loves to spend time with his horses in Serbia. That’s why when people ask him about them, his face lights up.
On Sunday, four-time All-Star DeMarcus Cousins crashed his interview with the media and raised a hypothetical question about his horses. The former Nuggets center asked Jokic if he prefers to win the MVP every year, or if he wants his horses to win in their races every year.

Nikola Jokic stayed true to his character and answered the question by choosing his horses.
“All the horses — I already had three (MVPs),” Jokic said. “So I’m fine.
“All three horses winning races, brother.”

Even when the Nuggets won the championship in 2023, Jokic was thinking more about his horses. Last year, the big man celebrated his horse winning a race.
Nikola Jokic’s friendly banter with Luka Doncic
Nikola Jokic was reunited with his close friend Luka Doncic at the All-Star Weekend. They were teammates with Team World, and both spent most of the time on the bench on Sunday. Ahead of the main event, the two stars had greeted each other in the locker room.
As they hugged, Jokic commented on Doncic’s conditioning.
“Look how fat you’ve gotten,” the Nuggets star said.

In the past, Doncic has been criticized for his lack of conditioning. It’s also one of the reasons why he was traded by the Dallas Mavericks last season.
