Norman Powell made it a mission that he will make the All-Star Game this season and he is walking the talk as he is Miami Heat’s top scorer with 23 points per game. Erik Spoelstra and several other NBA personalities thought he deserve to make it to Los Angeles where this year’s edition will be held.
The league recognized his great performances as he was named to the Eastern Conference All-Star reserves.

Powell got the slot over his own teammates who have been All-Star before like Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro although the latter is barely playing this season.
The 32-year-old will join Donovan Mitchell as the other guard from Eastern Conference. Forward/Center who made the reserve are Jalen Johnson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Pascal Siakam, Scottie Barnes, and Jalen Duren.

Starting five are Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey, Cade Cunningham, and Jalen Brunson.
Is Norman Powell the oldest ASG debutante?
Powell will make his first ever All-Star game at the age of 32. He is a testament that hard work pays. Grind never stops. Age does not matter.
Question now is, is he the oldest player to debut in the ASG? There are two players who are older than him.
First is Kyle Korver who was named to the ASG in 2015 at the age of 34 as replacement for Dwyane Wade. This was the time that the Atlanta Hawks were so dominant that they had four players who made it to the event.

Among the active players, Mike Conley got the record as he made the All-Star at the age of 34 when he was still part of the Memphis Grizzlies.
The oldest player to make his ASG debut is Nat Clifton in 1957. The league was just eight years old around this time. He got the nod averaging 10 points and 9 rebounds per game.
