It’s no secret Nikola Jokic is on a rampage these past few weeks by putting up impressive performances. Although the Denver Nuggets lost their match against the Los Angeles Clippers, though, the three-time MVP matched a record done by Los Angeles Lakers icon Magic Johnson.
Just recently, the Clippers edged out the Nuggets with a score of 126-122, propelled by a stellar performance from James Harden. Harden showcased his scoring prowess, finishing with 39 points, including a perfect 13-for-13 from the free-throw line. His play was crucial as the Clippers secured their second win over Denver this season, improving their record to 13-9.
Despite a strong effort from Jokic, who recorded his eighth triple-double of the season with 28 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists, the Nuggets struggled to maintain their early momentum. They initially led by as much as 10 points in the third quarter, but the Clippers rallied back, thanks in part to Harden’s remarkable ability to drain three-pointers and create scoring opportunities for his teammates.
Norman Powell also made a significant impact upon his return from injury, adding 28 points to the scoreboard. His contributions, alongside Harden’s, helped the Clippers regain control of the game in the fourth quarter. A series of three consecutive three-pointers early in the final period pushed Los Angeles ahead, allowing them to hold off a late charge from Denver.
The game featured numerous lead changes and highlights, including a critical moment when Jokic missed a key free throw with just nine seconds left on the clock. This miss proved pivotal, as it allowed the Clippers to maintain their lead and manage the final moments effectively.

In a remarkable performance, the big man achieved a historic milestone by joining Johnson as the only players in NBA history to record at least 40 triple-doubles with a single franchise. During Denver’s matchup against the Clippers, the reigning MVP showcased his versatility, finishing with a spectacular stat line that included points, rebounds, and assists.
This achievement not only underscores his exceptional skill set but also solidifies his legacy within the league. As Jokic continues to elevate his game, he remains a pivotal force for the Nuggets and a strong MVP contender this season.
