Denver Nuggets point guard Russell Westbrook used to put up triple-doubles in his sleep. While he’s no longer able to pull off that feat on a consistent basis, the nine-time NBA All-Star had a little bit of a trip-dub throwback Tuesday night, as he scored 12 points, dropped 14 dimes, and grabbed 10 rebounds in 32 minutes of action off the bench during a 122-110 win over the Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum.
It was a special triple-double for the former league Most Valuable Player, as it was the 200th of his career. Also, he became the first player in the history of the NBA with at least 200 games with such a stat line, according to StatMamba.
“Russell Westbrook is the first player in NBA history to record 200 career triple-doubles.”

Nuggets’ Russell Westbrook still contributing at age 36

Westbrook, who turned 36 years old on Nov. 2, is showing that there is still plenty of gas left in his tank. Although he’s now at the point in his career where he’s just coming off the bench, Westbrook can still have a tremendous impact on the Nuggets, who improved to 8-5 and prevented a three-game losing skid with the win against the Grizzlies.
Denver missed the services again of big man Nikola Jokic, who was out for the third Nuggets game in a row due to personal reasons, so Westbrook was able to get more touches. So far in his first season with the Nuggets, who signed a two-year deal worth $6.77 million with Denver last summer.
