“Been Working on My Shot All Summer” – Oklahoma City Thunder Star is Working on This Important Skill This Offseason

This summer, Oklahoma City Thunder Chet Holmgren is spending time with renowned NBA trainer Drew Hanlen, who has worked with Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and Jayson Tatum, among others.

Holmgren, a career 37.2 percent three-point shooter, recently revealed he has been working on his three-point shot throughout the summer ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder’s title defense.

“I’ve been working on my shot all summer. Even before you, I got out of here with Drew (Hanlen),” Holmgren said via Cooper Jones on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Just continuing to work on that stuff. Working on being on balance, playing off of bumps, slowing down.”

“The attention to detail. Two people can do the same move, but it really takes perfection to really make the move effective. And he doesn’t let anybody slip up on the details. If he sees something, he’s going to say something… Continue to improve. Continue to get better. I have a lot of personal goals, but if I don’t do that, none of that happens,” he continued.

Oklahoma City Thunder veteran leads ESPN Sixth Man of the Year poll

Oklahoma City reserve Alex Caruso (66 points) was voted first for the Sixth Man of the Year award in a recent poll by ESPN, beating out the likes of Naz Reid, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Payton Pritchard, and Ty Jerome.

“This honor traditionally goes to a player who provides instant offense off the bench. It has been three decades since the Sixth Man of the Year averaged single digits in points, which has happened only three times in the history of the award,” Tim MacMahon wrote. “Caruso’s impact in his first season in Oklahoma City, particularly during the playoffs, is indisputable.

“But he averaged only 7.1 points per game during the regular season, when he received a single third-place vote to finish eighth in Sixth Man of the Year balloting. A significant scoring boost is unlikely for Caruso during his ninth NBA season as a role player on a loaded Thunder roster,” he added.
