The Oklahoma City Thunder are off to a blistering start in the 2024-25 season because they’ve won seven consecutive games before losing to the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night.

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s superb run did not go unnoticed, as Lou Williams gave them their flowers during his recent appearance on FanDuel TV.
“Whatever uncertainties we had about them being young, being youthful, being inexperienced, they put all those things to rest,” Williams said. “Now they’ve come back even hungrier, even a better basketball team. I like Oklahoma City.”

The three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year winner has become a huge fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder because of their “hard-nosed” style. According to NBA.com, Oklahoma City has the best defensive rating in the league at 96.5 opponent points per 100 possessions.
“Every possession matters to the Oklahoma City Thunder. And it starts at the top. SGA is one of those guys, Chet Holmgren is one of those guys, Jalen Williams. All of these guys are willing to put their bodies on the line, take charges, and do whatever it takes to win a basketball game, and it trickles down to everybody else,” Williams continued.
Oklahoma City Thunder suffer first loss by a close margin
The Oklahoma City Thunder suffered a 124-122 defeat against the Denver Nuggets, capped off by a huge block by Peyton Watson on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander late in the game.
Oklahoma City was up by as many as 16, but Denver’s 30-14 run in the third quarter had the game level at 95 points entering the final period.

The team roared back behind Jalen Williams and Alex Caruso when they were down by eight with less than two minutes left, but Peyton Watson denied Oklahoma City’s comeback attempt.
Jalen Williams almost had a triple-double for the Oklahoma City Thunder with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 28 points and six assists.
