The NBA announced that Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander won this year’s MVP award after a solid regular season campaign.

Gilgeous-Alexander became the third player in the Oklahoma City Thunder franchise history to win the league MVP, joining Kevin Durant (2014) and Russell Westbrook (2017). James Harden, who played for the team with Durant and Westbrook from 2009 to 2012, also won an MVP trophy in 2019 as a member of the Houston Rockets.
The Canadian international posted averages of 32.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 1.7 steals on 52/38/90 shooting splits across 76 regular season starts. Gilgeous-Alexander was the driving force behind Oklahoma City’s 68-14 record.

Gilgeous-Alexander garnered 71 first-place votes and 29 second-place votes for 913 points. Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo finished second and third with 787 and 470 points.
Oklahoma City Thunder News: Giannis Antetokounmpo shares funny reaction to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander winning MVP
Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, a two-time MVP awardee, took to social media to express his thoughts on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander winning MVP for the first time.

“What??!!!! Did shams got hacked no way this is true??!!” Antetokounmpo wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Being the jokester he is, Antetokounmpo is likely overreacting as a joke since this is how most fans react to Shams Charania’s posts, especially after the ESPN insider announced the Luka Doncic trade last February.
