Old Clip of Paul George Casually Admitting to Drugs Resurfaced After Shocking Suspension of 76ers Star

Just when Paul George is starting to find his stride, the Philadelphia 76ers star has to face another setback.

The NBA has suspended PG for 25 games for alleged violation of the league’s drug policy. The Sixers star did not deny the allegation and accepted his punishment.

He said it was for his mental health medication and that he will use this period to take care of his mind and body and eventually be of help again.

    He said in a statement:

Over the past few years, I’ve discussed the importance of mental health, and in the course of recently seeking treatment for an issue of my own, I made the mistake of taking an improper medication,” George said in the statement.

“I take full responsibility for my actions and apologize to the Sixers organization, my teammates and the Philly fans for my poor decision making during this process.”

The suspension came less than a week after he recorded his best game yet of the season when he scored 32 points and had 5 rebounds and 5 assists in win over the Milwaukee Bucks. He had a slow start to the season as he prioritized fully recovery from knee injury.

The 32-point game is only the second time he scored above 30 points this season.

George’s road to recovery has been quite lengthy and it is unfortunate that his superstar teammate Joel Embiid is in the same situation as his him.

They identify with each other and in February last year, he was asked what advice he will give to him.

He said it so casually but with the current suspension, people think it is something. But of course, there are a lot of drugs in the world and with medication for mental heath being quite new, there will be issues.

For now, the Sixers will have to have to navigate the season without their fourth best player, Embiid recently advocated for team to make a trade and now, it is a must for them to be active on the market to fill the shoes that PG will leave vacant.
