One More 2003 Draft and HoF Member Joins Lebron James in Praising Rockets Big Man Alperen Sengun – ‘Potential MVP’

Los Angeles Lakers star Lebron James expressed his admiration of Alperen Sengun after the Houston Rockets star’s strong showing in the EuroBasket 2025. The 2025 All-Star played for his country Turkey and made the All-Star Five Team. His most notable performances were against NBA MVPs Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Turkey only managed a runner up finish but he still had a great summer and for Lebron in his podcast Mind The Game podcast, Rockets are set to have a big year because of him.

“Hell of a summer. I think he’s going to ride that wave right to Houston and have a big year for them,” he said.

James is also aware of how bigger Sengun’s responsibility has become after the injury to Fred VanVleet. The Lakers star called it a huge blow but he believes the remaining guys will step up and Rockets will remain a force to be reckoned with.

That’s a huge praise since it comes from the man considered to be the Greatest of All Time. In case fans are still not convinced, take the words from King James’ 2003 batchmate and 2025 Hall of Fame member.

Carmelo Anthony has bold prediction for Alperen Sengun

Carmelo Anthony, who played for the Rockets once, does not only think Sengun is making strides. He is raising the bar for the Turkish center.

Anthony does not think the 23-year-old will need more development. He is ready for the now and maybe contend for the MVP award.

“He could be MVP. We talk about MVP candidates,” he said in his podcast.

What makes it more viable this season compared to the last one? Melo said it is the arrival of Kevin Durant who can unleash his potential.

“KD never played with a big man that he could throw the ball into and the offense could be ran through the center,” he continued.

“Somebody who is a similar game to Jokic. KD never played on a team with that kind of big man like that, with the Thompson twin, he’s like a Swiss army knife that can do so many things.

“Sengun is going to score or get fouled, I’m going to do something with it, pick your poison.”
