Desmond Bane is hyped to suit up for the Orlando Magic next season following the warm reception he has received from everyone, especially his new head coach, Jamahl Mosley.

Mosley dapped Bane so hard that the latter’s hand is still reportedly sore, and the former Memphis Grizzlies swingman explained his first impression of the Orlando Magic’s fourth-year head coach during his introductory press conference.

“Cool cat… I think that’s the best way to put it,” Bane said about Mosley. “It seems like he’s really a player’s coach, puts the guys first, puts himself in our shoes, and gives us freedom.”

“That’s the thing that every player wants — freedom,” he continued. “He’s gonna empower us to be ourselves out there. Like I asked him, ‘Yo coach, what do you want from me?’ He said, ‘Be you off the court, on the court, be yourself,’ and that just gave me the ultimate confidence that this is gonna be a great fit and great spot for me,” he added.

“Magic fans, what’s up, Desmond Bane here,” Bane said. “In the practice gym, excited to be here. See the new jerseys. Let’s get it.”

Bane’s arrival is a massive boost to the Orlando Magic’s offense. The TCU product averaged 19.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.2 steals on 48.4 percent shooting from the field and 39.2 percent from three-point range across 69 regular season appearances in 2024-25.
