The Orlando Magic are off to an uneven start in the 2025-26 campaign with a 5-6 record. If recent reports are to be believed, there are valid concerns about the working relationship between Paolo Banchero and head coach Jamahl Mosley.

“There is a ‘growing disconnect’ between franchise cornerstone Paolo Banchero and head coach Jamahl Mosley. The source described communication between the two as strained, adding that members of the organization have grown concerned about Banchero’s level of engagement with his coach during games,” Grant Afseth of RG recently wrote.
“Sources familiar with the situation said communication between Banchero and Mosley has become almost non-existent during timeouts, and the star forward often avoids eye contact when the coach addresses the team in huddles,” he added.

The Orlando Magic’s offensive inefficiency is the main culprit behind their up-and-down start. As of this writing, the team is 19th in the league in offensive rating (114.1) and 18th in points per game (115.9).
Orlando Magic News: Paolo Banchero looks ahead to marquee matchup vs. New York Knicks
The Orlando Magic returned to winning ways last Monday with a 115-112 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, as Desmond Bane hit the game-winning three-point shot. They will face the New York Knicks tomorrow, and Paolo Banchero is looking forward to the matchup.

“We get to play on my birthday, so it should be a big game. I’m just ready to accomplish more, honestly. I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot, but at the same time, I’m definitely not satisfied with what I’ve accomplished or happy. I’m definitely just as hungry to do more,” Banchero told Marc J. Spears of Andscape.
“The best gift I could get is a dub (win) and a good performance. We’ll be on ESPN for that one. So yeah, hopefully I can just play my best and we can get a win,” he added.
