Myles Turner went from being the Indiana Pacers’ most beloved player into an instant villain after he joined the Milwaukee Bucks over the summer. He was the Pacers’ longest-tenured player before the shocking transfer and now, he is no longer on their side.

He was the leader of the 2024-25 season runners up and made friends with people there. He will remain one with his former teammates, several Pacers made it clear that they won’t go soft on them and that the rivalry with the Bucks won’t end.

Defensive guard Andrew Nembhard joins teammate Tyrese Haliburton to the list of Pacers thought it is strange to see him playing for a rival. For Nembhard, this will only make their next encounters more exciting.

“I think it just builds into the rivalry that we already got going,” he said in an interview with Hello and Welcome, via HoopsHype.

“It’s going to be an exciting matchup this year. It’s going to get even better than before — now that we’re not on the same team anymore.”

Pacers and Bucks met in the first round of the last two playoffs with the former winning both. These battles, including the ones in the regular season, saw players trash talk each other, get downed by hard foul, and post game shades.

Turner’s transfer to the Bucks is something that nobody saw coming and some Pacers fans felt betrayed. It did not help, too, that his explanation about the decision was because he just wants to remain competitive.

Pacers will be without Haliburton for the whole 2025-26 season after tearing his ACL in Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA finals.

Nembhard understands that Turner has that choice and so, he also wishes him well. However, he hopes that him doing well won’t be when they play with each other.

“At the end of the day, I want to see him do well, you know?” Nembhard said.

“Glad he got paid, and wishing him success in the future… not against us.”

Turner signed a three-year deal worth $108.9 million with the Bucks who had to move mountain, a.k.a. stretched waive of Damian Lillard, to get him.
