UConn Huskies star player Paige Bueckers may have had it harder on her career, compared to former Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark—at least that is what ESPN anchor Elle Duncan believes.
During one of the episodes of “The Elle Duncan Show,” Duncan and Gary Striewski are discussing who is the more impactful player in women’s basketball: Paige Bueckers or Caitlin Clark. While Duncan agreed that Calrk had a bigger and wider each, she thinks it was only because Bueckers was disadvantaged by one factor.
“There has been more adversity for Paige than Caitlin in terms of staying on the court,” Duncan said. “I mean Paige has been hampered by devastating injuries. I firmly believe the biggest star in the planet would be Paige Buecker’s if she had stayed healthy throughout her college run instead of stopping and starting.”
Paige Bueckers is expected to play the current season as her final. So far, she has started in every game UConn has played and averages 30.3 points per game, 16 rebounds, and 16 assists. She shoots 55% from beyond the arc and 64.2% from the field.
Can Paige Bueckers Refuse The Dallas Wings?
The first round of the WNBA draft is not expected to take place until April 2025, but the general consensus right now is that Paige Bueckers is the apparent first pick. With the Dallas Wings winning the first pick in the lottery, the expectation is that Bueckers would end up signing under the Wings.
But will she? This was the question raised by reporter Sabreena Merchant, who revealed that Bueckers is “not thrilled” about joining the Dallas WNBA team.
“I have heard some rumblings that Paige isn’t thrilled about going to Dallas,” Merchant said. “I do wonder what sort of leverage she might use in this case because Paige makes a lot of money through NIL. More than she’s going to make on a rookie contract. It’s not as if she needs the WNBA.”
Merchant went on to suggest that ultimately, Paige may opt to continue to play one more season for college, all because she doesn’t want to play for the Wings.
Before Dallas won the first pick, it had been long rumored that Beuckers would be going to the Sparks as the Los Angeles team was expected to have the highest chances in the lottery.
Paige Bueckers is expected to finish her college basketball days this season and move on to the WNBA. However, since she skipped the entire 2022-2023 season due to an ACL injury, rumors of her taking one more year at college have been floating around the mill.
