Paige Bueckers concluded her illustrious NCAA career with a resounding championship victory, leading the UConn Huskies to an 82-59 triumph over South Carolina in the 2025 Women’s NCAA Tournament finals. This marked her first national title and UConn’s first since 2016, solidifying her legacy as one of the program’s all-time greats.

Despite injuries that sidelined her during previous seasons, Bueckers showcased her resilience and determination, delivering a stellar performance with 17 points, six rebounds, and three assists in the championship game.
Her emotional embrace with coach Geno Auriemma during the final moments highlighted the deep bond and mutual respect between them. Bueckers’ journey was marked by challenges, including a torn ACL that kept her out for an entire season, but her perseverance culminated in this crowning achievement.
Will Paige Bueckers be The Overall First Pick for The WNBA Draft?
Paige Bueckers is widely expected to be the overall first pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft due to her standout collegiate career and extraordinary performances during high-stakes NCAA tournament play. Leading UConn to a national title, she not only became the fastest player in her program to reach 2,000 career points but also delivered a career-high 40-point game in the Sweet 16.

In addition to her personal accolades, the draft landscape further solidified her top-pick status. With other prospects like Olivia Miles opting to enter the transfer portal instead of the draft and a shifting pool of talent due to offseason moves, teams were left with a clear frontrunner.

During her final season with UConn and in the NCAA, Paige Bueckers averaged 20.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game. She shot with a 54.3% field goal percentage and a 42.4% three-point percentage.
