Paige Bueckers got an unexpected reference in one of the latest posts of Canadian rapper and artist Drake, which eventually led to game invitations sent out by the franchise itself.
Paige Bueckers got an unexpected shoutout from Drake, as a meme photo of her was included in the rapper’s latest post. The post was not mainly about the WNBA star, but rather a photo dump of Drake’s recent highlights, memes, and screenshots.
As a response, the official Dallas Wings Instagram account issued an informal invitation to Drake once the NWBA gets back into court action.

“Sooo,” the Wings IG account commented. “Now you gotta come to a game Mr. Drake.”

Even Breeze Basketball Club, Bueckers’ team for Unrivaled, joiners in on the conversation.
“They can’t find the shooter Drizz,” they wrote. “CAUSE IT’S US”
Meanwhile, social media associated Drake’s sudden inclusion of Paige Bueckers on his post as part of the so-called “Drake curse.” This “curse” started floating around 2015, when fans noticed a pattern of athletes and teams suffering defeat right after Drake either endorsed them or showed support for them.
Some of the athletes that fans use as “proof” of this included Serena Williams in 2015, Cono McGregor in 2018, the Toronto Raptors before 2019, and UFC fighter Israel Adesanya in 2023.
Paige Bueckers Gets Honest Opinion From Wings HC
Dallas Wings head coach Jose Fernandez said the team will lean on guard Paige Bueckers when making roster decisions as the franchise prepares for a busy offseason, including free agency and an expansion draft after the collective bargaining agreement is finalized.

Fernandez told No Offseason: The Athletic Women’s Basketball Show that he expects Bueckers to be “involved in a lot of things” alongside the front office as the club navigates the draft and personnel moves, signaling a collaborative approach between coaching and management.
“I think it’s very, very important when the CBA gets done, that’ll kick off free agency. The expansion draft and all that other stuff where I’m sure she’s going to be involved in a lot of things with myself and the front office with regards to the roster,” Fernandez said. “As we lean into getting everybody here in Dallas for training camp, her and I will be on the same page on what I see on both ends of the floor.”
