Even before her official debut, Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers already has a duo moniker with one of her teammates, and she is all down for the new namesake.
As training camp with the Dallas Wings commenced, Paige Bueckers gained a nickname with teammate Arike Ogunbowale. Together, fans have dubbed them “Parike.”
“That’s pretty cool,” Bueckers said of the new moniker attached to her and Arike. “Arike has established herself as an amazing player. Just to be on the same team as her… is a great blessing.”

Arike Ogunbowale was drafted by the Wings as the 5th overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft after a stellar college career at Notre Dame.
During her college days, Ogunbowale became one of the most clutch players in NCAA history. She played a crucial role in leading the Fighting Irish to the 2018 National Championship, famously hitting back-to-back buzzer-beaters—first against UConn in the Final Four and then against Mississippi State in the championship game. Her heroics earned her the Most Outstanding Player award for the tournament.

Paige Bueckers, meanwhile, finished her tenure as the third all-time leading scorer for the Huskies with 2,439 points, while holding the highest scoring average in UConn history at 19.9 points per game. Bueckers also ranks among the top 10 in assists (561), field goals made (931), and steals (258).
Bueckers’ accolades include winning the 2025 NCAA championship, earning the Wade Trophy, and being a three-time Big East Player of the Year (2021, 2024, 2025). She also made history as the first freshman to win the AP Player of the Year, Naismith College Player of the Year, USBWA National Player of the Year, and the John R. Wooden Award in 2021.
Paige Bueckers Joined a “New” Dallas Wings
Paige Bueckers is not the only one starting a new chapter when she was drafted by the Dallas Wings. The franchise itself recently underwent major changes in its front office and leadership, making the 2025 season a fresh new chapter for everyone.

One of the most notable changes was the hiring of Curt Miller as the team’s Executive Vice President and General Manager. Alongside Miller, the organization has expanded its basketball operations department, hiring Jasmine Thomas and Travis Charles as Assistant General Managers.
In addition to front office changes, the Wings made a bold move in their coaching staff, parting ways with Latricia Trammell after two seasons. To address these challenges, the Wings appointed Chris Koclanes as their new head coach, bringing in a fresh perspective and a revamped coaching staff.

Paige Bueckers will be joined by other Wings rookies Aziaha James (No. 12 overall), Madison Scott (No. 14 overall), JJ Quinerly (No. 27 overall), and Aaronette Vonleh (No. 31 overall).
