Former NBA player Patrick Beverley demanded that former Dallas Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons apologize for his past comments against LA Lakers guard/forward Austin Reaves.
On Sunday, Beverley shared on X an old quote from Parsons before the start of the 2023-24 season, in which the FanDuel TV analyst said that he doesn’t see Reaves improving and has reached his ceiling. Contrary to his comments back then, however, Reaves is having a tremendous season for the Lakers and has cemented himself as one of the best third options in the league.
Reaves is currently averaging 20.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.1 steals, clearly proving Parsons and everyone who doubted him wrong this season.
“White-on-white crime smh (Chandler Parsons). Now apologize like [a] man,” Beverley said.
Beverley last played for the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA. He signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv of the Israeli Basketball Premier League from July 2024 until they parted ways last month.

Patrick Beverley disagrees with Chandler Parsons’ take on Austin Reaves
Patrick Beverley was clearly not in agreement with Chandler Parsons’ opinion on Austin Reaves—so much so that he demanded an apology from the former Dallas Mavericks forward on the Lakers guard’s behalf.
Parsons, who played nine seasons in the NBA, talked about Reaves’ potential with the Lakers after signing a four-year, $53.8 million contract with the Purple and Gold. He said back then that he was not convinced that Reaves will go beyond being a role player.
“I love Austin Reaves,” Parsons said about Reaves way back in 2023. “His ceiling is exactly what he is doing right now. I think his ceiling is him being consistent 15/5/5. He’s not a player who’s going to continue to get exceptionally better. It’s not like the potential is through the roof with him. He is what he is.”

Reaves has surpassed all the Lakers’ expectations of him and has found himself in “big three” talks on the Lakers alongside LeBron James and Luka Doncic. He had a huge helping hand in the Lakers’ recent victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, finishing with 31 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists.

Reaves is not favored to win this season’s Most Improved Player award, but he has proven to become a legitimate third scoring option as opposed to Parsons’ initial impression of him as a simple role player. However, until Reaves makes an All-Star team, Patrick Beverley might have to wait a bit longer for that apology.
