The last news about Ben Simmons and his NBA career was that he is focused on recovery and that he is willing to return to the Philadelphia 76ers. That might take a backseat right now as reports revealed he is chasing a new career.

The three-time All-Star is now an investor in a professional fishing team. Bleacher Report posted something about this news but swiftly deleted it for wrong information wherein it said that he is going to be a professional fisherman.

Marc Spears has a clarification and it is revealed that he is a co-owner instead of being a player himself. He is now among the owners of the South Florida Sails Angling Club which competes in the Sport Fishing Championship Team.

“I have always believed that investing in what you love means you have a responsibility to help move it forward,’ Simmons said in a statement.

“Sportfishing has give’n me incredible experiences, and SFC is creating a platform that treats offshore fishing like the elite sport it is.”

Simmons also called their league the Formula One of sports fishing.

“The way I see it, it’s like the new F1 [Formula 1] for fishing. The new LIV Golf for fishing,” Simmons told Andscape.

“The first real competitive sport fishing championship. It’s a league of 16 teams, which is growing and expanding. And so, we’ll go out there and compete in various different tournaments, and there’ll be a champion crowned at the end. It’s a point-scored system.”

Simmons was with the Los Angeles Clippers last season but no team decided to sign him for the current one.

    Ben Simmons get roasted, nevertheless

Simmons is making the most out of his time while he works to return to the big league but people still find ways to turn it into a roasting moment.

Hope he is better from deep in fishing

Joel Embiid was out there winning 50 games and locking up top three seeds year after year while his second-best option was basically a commercial fisherman. https://t.co/JK53yBMfdz

Ben Simmons casts right and retrieves left, a technique that allows right-handed anglers to keep their dominant hand on the rod for maximum control.

Ben Simmons didn’t retire from the NBA, he just finally committed to a league where standing still and waiting is the whole strategy. pic.twitter.com/BVkOTH561v
