The drama just seems to continue piling up for the Philadelphia 76ers. Among the latest intriguing stories to come out of Philly of late is the report that Sixers guard Tyrese Maxey called out Joel Embiid over the big man’s tardiness.
The last thing the 76ers need right now is more controversy and outside noise, but that’s what they are getting lately, with fans and media members taking turns in voicing out their thoughts about what’s happening to Philadelphia.
Former NBA forward Richard Jefferson is among those who’s given his piece about the Sixers. For Jefferson, who won an NBA title with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, it is surprising to learn that Embiid got lectured by a younger teammate.
“I’ve been in enough organizations where it becomes very, very sad where the children are asked to adult the parents. That’s the problem. When I see a young player, yes, he got his bag. But when he’s saying, hey, the reason why I wanted to be here is because of you, I never saw that with Tim Duncan,” said Jefferson.
“I never saw that with Dirk Nowitzki. I never saw that with Jason Kidd. I never saw that with LeBron James. We can keep going. I have never seen a player as great as this, as a Joel Embiid, have to be called out by some of the youngest players in his camp, in his roster. And like I said, I wasn’t in there. This is based off reports coming out.”

Philadelphia 76ers have to get it together before it’s too late
In any case, the Sixers need all hands on deck and better chemistry on and off the court to turn their season around before it’s too late.
At the moment, the 76ers only have two wins to show after 14 games. After a 117-111 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday to finish a three-game road trip, the Sixers will fly back to the City of Brotherly Love looking to get their third win of the season and snap a five-game losing skid when they host the Brooklyn Nets on Friday.
