Sixers insider Keith Pompey of The Philadlephia Inquirer has reported that Philly is now considered the “frontrunner” in the George sweepstakes.
The Clippers have refused to offer George a max-level extension, which has led to the 34-year-old testing they waters of free agency. It is wroth noting that George turned down a guaranteed $48.7 million for 2024-25, so the Sixers will need to pay him more than that in order to lure him to Philadelphia.
According to reports, the 76ers are indeed amenable to offering a max contract for George.

Pompey went on to say in his report that if the Sixers are able to land George, the former Most Improved Player of the Year winner will do everything he can to bring in more players with him ahead of the new season:
“If he comes to Philly, sources believe George will help recruit solid role players for the Sixers’ pursuit of an NBA championship-caliber roster,” Pompey wrote.
At this point, it sounds like George will be in a Sixers uniform come opening night.
