While many saw the Philadelphia 76ers’ future in Joel Embiid, it was actually emerging point guard Tyrese Maxey who’s better suited to carry the franchise into the future. This is evident when a museum in the All-Star’s honor was recently built, prompting him to get real on the tribute.
The Sixers have celebrated Maxey’s career and recent contract extension with the creation of a special museum dedicated to the young point guard. Philadelphia has collected rare photos, videos, and highlights showcasing Maxey’s journey to the NBA, his impact on the team, and the legacy he is building.

The museum features a variety of displays, including trophy cases housing Maxey’s accolades, such as his 2023-24 NBA Most Improved Player award. Fans, players, and media members have all expressed excitement for Maxey, who has become a beloved figure in Philadelphia with his good-natured personality and stellar on-court performance.
The museum experience included Maxey walking through the exhibits with his family, teammates like former MVP Joel Embiid, and even NBA legend Julius Erving, who presented Maxey with a symbolic “hammer” in front of the team’s famed pregame bell. This gesture highlights the organization’s deep appreciation for his contributions and their desire to commemorate his achievements as he continues to write the next chapter of his career with the Sixers.

Over the course of his four-year run in the NBA, Maxey has averaged 18.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game. He also won last season’s Most Improved Player award, a sign towards his progress and development in the league.

With the Sixers landing Paul George, the pair of Maxey and Embiid has a chance of truly contending soon. And if the young guard continues to move towards the right direction, sky will definitely be a limit for the team.
