Paul George was a key contributor in the Philadelphia 76ers’ 131-110 home win against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday evening, as he had 23 points, four rebounds, five assists, and four three-pointers on 7-for-11 shooting from the field across 33 minutes of action.
After the game, George was asked about his current role with the Philadelphia 76ers, and the nine-time NBA All-Star seems to have fully embraced being the third (or fourth) option behind stars Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
“Joel, Tyrese are our two engines. Those guys are going to, rightfully so, demand attention. Demand the ball in moments to score, and I gotta fit in… More than anything, defensively, I know I can still be elite,” George told reporters via PHLY Sixers on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Embiid and Maxey combined for 50 points in the lopsided victory, while Quentin Grimes, VJ Edgecombe, Andre Drummond, and Dominick Barlow added 16, 13, 11, and 11 points, respectively.

Philadelphia 76ers News: Kelly Oubre Jr. reflects on his on-court return vs. Washington Wizards
Kelly Oubre Jr. is finally back for the Philadelphia 76ers after missing 22 games due to a left knee sprain, and the 30-year-old forward had two points, three rebounds, and two steals on 1-for-4 shooting in 20 minutes off the bench.
Despite his modest stat line, Oubre said he is merely happy to be back on the floor to help the Philadelphia 76ers, especially after what he went through during his rehab process.
“It’s been a long journey to get back out there, and it felt amazing just to even be able to just touch the court and do anything out there. So, it felt good,” Oubre told Ky Carlin of the Sixers Wire. “I felt good this whole time. Like, there was no pain in my knee, but it was all about stability, strength, and all of that. After my, like, 1,000th sprint, I was so done. I just wanted to get out there and play basketball and test my wind out there on the court, but nothing is like being out there.”
