Quentin Grimes recently agreed to sign a one-year qualifying offer worth $8.7 million to stay with the Philadelphia 76ers instead of getting a lucrative extension for his superb run last season. However, the 25-year-old swingman doesn’t harbor any hard feelings about it.

In a recent media availability, Grimes said he’s relieved to get the contract talks out of the way as he prepares for his first full season with the Philadelphia 76ers.
“Not at all. I’m here to play basketball, you know what I mean? I try to control what I can control, and that’s how hard I go in the gym,” Grimes explained via The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey.

“Preparation-wise, working out my body, and I leave that up to my agent and the front office. Hopefully, I’ll be able to be back here longer. I wanted to be back here on a longer-term deal, but I’m happy to be here right now and do everything I can to help this team win,” he added.
Philadelphia 76ers News: Nick Nurse dishes on reintegrating Quentin Grimes
Quentin Grimes did not join the Philadelphia 76ers during their preseason tour in Abu Dhabi. However, according to head coach Nick Nurse, Grimes never fails to put in the work.

“He’s certainly behind with a lot of the things we’re doing; we obviously changed a lot of things we’re doing, and he’s got to catch up with that. But even these last couple of days, we had a couple of coaches back that we’re putting him through all that stuff, you know, in a group setting, even though he was the only player out there, they fill in all the other spots to get him up to speed as fast as he can,” Nurse said about Grimes via SI’s Declan Harris.
“He’s explosive and athletic, he was energetic today, he played hard, and he looked like he’s been working out. I haven’t seen him; he’s had a couple of shooting sessions here, while we were gone, and they did report that he was looking good,” he added.
