Chicago Bulls star shooting guard Zach LaVine has been a staple in trade rumors for months now, with some linking him to the Philadelphia 76ers. He can expect speculations about his future in Windy City to get even more intense following the trade of Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder, but according to NBA and 76ers reporter Kyle Neubeck, the Sixers remain “not interested” in going after LaVine in this offseason.
“Spoke to a league source who said Sixers position on Zach LaVine has not changed since the trade deadline. Philly is not interested in pursuing”
The 76ers have plenty of potential outgoing assets in free agency, with the likes of Tobias Harris, Kyle Lowry, Buddy Hield, Nicolas Batum, and Robert Covington all unrestricted free agents. The 76ers are unlikely to retain all of them, so that should give them enough flexibility on the financial front to acquire a star. Will it be LaVine? For now, that seems unlikely, but there are other options for Philadelphia.
The Philadelphia 76ers need another star to get them over the hump

Joel Embiid is not going to be great forever, so the pressure is there for the 76ers to build a quality supporting cast for the former NBA Most Valuable Player.
Tyrese Maxey, who is a restricted free agent whose bird rights are owned by Philadelphia, is a great asset alongside Embiid, but another star could be needed by the team for it to finally exorcise their playoff demons. The Sixers have not gone past the second round of the playoffs in any of the last seven seasons. In the 2024 NBA Playoffs, they got bounced out of the first round by the New York Knicks after just six games.
