The Phoenix Suns stunned the Minnesota Timberwolves with a 114-113 NBA Cup win last night. Down by eight points with 1:09 left, Phoenix went on a 9-0 run, capped off by Collin Gillespie’s tough floater with 6.4 seconds left, to steal the game.

What made the home victory more impressive is that they pulled it off without their star Devin Booker, who fouled out with more than three minutes remaining in the game while earning a technical foul on his way off the court.
“He’s got that type of mentality, that dog in him, and he definitely doesn’t shy away from it, make or miss,” Dillon Brooks said of Gillespie via AZ Central’s Duane Rankin.

“They (Minnesota Timberwolves) were talking too early, and I love that. When guys get too confident and once the pressure starts heating up, their eyes start getting big, and they start getting scared. The person (Julius Randle) who was talking too much made the two turnovers and missed the shot,” he added.
Phoenix Suns News: Devin Booker reflects on Collin Gillespie calling game vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
As mentioned, Devin Booker was not on the court when the Phoenix Suns made their late run to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves. After the game, the four-time NBA All-Star admitted he couldn’t believe what just happened.

“Super celebratory. It’s crazy. I wasn’t even a part of it. I kind of blacked out. I’m going to have to watch it back to break down everything that happened that quick,” Booker stated.
It was a rough day in the office for Booker, as he was held to 16 points, three rebounds, 10 assists, and nine turnovers on 4-for-18 shooting from the field. The Phoenix Suns guard credited the Minnesota Timberwolves’ defense for slowing him down.
