Phoenix Suns Have Major Roster Problems to Address After Embarrassing 2024 Playoff Exit

The Phoenix Suns have issues to address after their humiliating sweep against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Not only is there a supposed disconnect between Frank Vogel and the rest of the team, but even Mat Ishbia has been called out for his excessive involvement with the team’s operations.

Despite the number of problems the team is facing, they understand that the biggest solution to their problems is to build a team that is strong enough to get out of the Western Conference. Suns GM James Jones understands that this task is easier said than done.

During a media interview on Wednesday, Jones was asked about the Suns’ plans in finding a proper point guard who can take over playmaking duties for the squad.

He answered that while there are many qualified candidates who can take over the spot, the specific situations the Suns find themselves in must be taken into consideration first.

Per Quenton S. Albertie of Last Word On Sports:

“I think the team could benefit from having a point guard…,” Jones admits.

However, the 14-year NBA veteran sounded more exasperated than flabbergasted, saying: “That’s an area we’ll hear a lot… Who do you want? Like, who do you want?”

“When you put that player on the floor and you take the ball out of someone’s hands, whose hands are you taking it out of and who are you putting in that position?”

Throughout the season,, Booker took over the role of the team’s primary ballhandler, finishing the regular season with 6.9 assists a game. He did his best in the postseason, averaging 6.0 assists against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Bradley Beal tried to share some of the responsibilities with Booker, but it’s obvious that they’re more effective when they’re zeroed in on scoring the basketball. If the Suns wants to succeed in the NBA, James Jones needs to find the perfect floor general who can maximize the effectiveness of their star players.
