Last season was a big disappointment for the Phoenix Suns, especially when they got swept by Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves. This season, though, could be a different story if they get to field the NBA’s best defense throughout the 2024-25 campaign.
The Suns enter the 2024-25 NBA season with high expectations and significant changes aimed at reclaiming their status as title contenders. With a star-studded lineup featuring Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, the team is poised for an explosive offensive performance. However, the key to their success lies in their ability to establish chemistry and find a defensive rhythm.

Last season, the Suns struggled with consistency, particularly on defense. Addressing this weakness will be crucial as they aim to improve their standing in a competitive Western Conference. The addition of Mike Budenholzer as head coach brings experience and a fresh perspective, particularly in elevating their defensive strategies.
Fans are eager to see how the integration of Beal will impact the team’s dynamics. His scoring ability and playmaking skills can elevate the Suns’ offensive game, but how he meshes with established stars like Durant and Booker will be closely monitored. The team’s depth will also be tested, with the supporting cast needing to step up in crucial moments.
With the right adjustments, the Suns could excel and potentially lead the league in offensive efficiency. The blend of talent, coaching, and a renewed focus on defense could make them a formidable force this season. Ultimately, the Suns are not just looking to compete but to dominate, aiming to secure their first championship in franchise history. As the season unfolds, all eyes will be on Phoenix to see if they can convert their potential into postseason success.
The Ringer Predicts Phoenix Suns Will Have The NBA’s Best Offense in 2024-25 Season

With a healthy lineup and the motivation they gained from their prior playoff elimination by the Timberwolves, the Suns may go on a revenge tour this season. This is explained more in Michael Pina’s article for The Ringer.
After some painful trial and error, the Suns realized that taking the ball out of Devin Booker’s, Kevin Durant’s, and Bradley Beal’s hands is like serving hot soup without a spoon, so they signed Tyus Jones (who averaged the second-most assists in the NBA after the All-Star break last year) and Monte Morris, a pair of historically dependable game managers who will do wonders for a team that couldn’t stop making stupid mistakes last season. (Phoenix finished 25th in turnover rate in 2024.)
They also replaced Frank Vogel with Mike Budenholzer, a coach who respects defensive principles but also understands how pointless they are if implemented on a team that eschews 3s and shots at the rim for long 2s. Phoenix was deadly from the midrange last year (Durant, Booker, and Beal will do that), but math is undefeated. Per game, the Suns attempted 3.3 fewer 3s than their opponents last season. Meanwhile, the league-leading Pacers and Celtics jacked up 5.9 and 5.7 more, respectively.
The Suns are gearing up for the 2024-25 season with high expectations for their offense, which many analysts believe could rank among the league’s best. With stars like Durant, Booker, and Beal, the team has the talent to excel.

Analysts suggest that improvements in shot selection and the presence of capable point guards, Jones and Morris, will enhance their efficiency. If these elements come together, the Suns could emerge as a top offensive force, aiming for a championship run this season.
