Phoenix Suns dominated the Los Angeles Lakers in their first pre-season game, 103-81, led by Devin Booker who scored 24 points in 25 minutes. He also had seven assists in that game. Is this a preview of a good season that they will have following massive restructuring?

That is hard to say at this moment as the Lakers played without their top two scorers Lebron James and Luka Doncic. Suns also did not have new acquisition Jalen Green who should figure prominently in the offensive system that they will run.
They are a work in progress, that’s for sure. But according to Booker, everything is coming along well.
“We had an early camp because we were coming out here and we’ve had one preseason game versus the (Los Angeles Lakers last week in Palm Desert, Calif.) before we came,” he said as quoted by AZ Central.

“Everything is hitting on all cylinders right now. We just have to continue to grow. Continue to get better day by day.”
Devin Booker doesn’t want a repeat of last season
He also has big goals for the team this season after missing the playoffs and that is part of him being the main leader now.
“This past summer was too long for my likening not being in the playoffs. I’m eager to get back to it. I’m excited. Obviously, we’ve had some changes with the roster,” he shared.
“We’ve had some changes with the coaches. So think it’s a big responsibility for me to be a leader and continue being a leader and getting everybody on the same page so we can start this thing off the right way.”

Aside from Green, the major change Suns embraced this season is the hiring of Jordan Ott as a full time coach. The was previously the assistant of the Cleveland Cavaliers who was the best team last season and the Los Angeles Lakers that won the 2023 NBA Cup.
