The Dallas Mavericks locked in PJ Washington on a massive $90 million extension, and the forward’s family wasted no time showing love. His wife, Alisah Chanel, took to social media with a message that drew plenty of attention.

“Protected and BLESSED congratulations my baby,” Alisah wrote, adding another post saying, “really himmmmmm.”

The celebration came just days after Washington’s name was unexpectedly tied to renewed chatter involving his former partner, Brittany Renner. The timing, however, seemed only to strengthen Alisah’s public support as she shared clips of their family life alongside the announcement.

Any player worth their salt would be worried about going into free agency. And for PJ Washington, this deal was a lifeline and a sign that he is capable, ready, and valuable. He knows he’s a reliable two-way player. Being a consistent scoring option while also taking on tough defensive assignments will be his bread and butter.

Fans online praised Alisah’s reaction, noting that her words highlighted how far PJ Washington had come since the early drama of his career. Many wrote that the new contract wasn’t just about money but also about him finding stability both on and off the court.

With the Mavericks now counting on Washington as part of their future core, his story has shifted from controversy to celebration—something his wife’s words captured perfectly.

Mavericks Spoil Warriors’ Potential Plans of Acquiring PJ Washington

Before the Dallas Mavericks reached a long-term agreement with PJ Washington, other teams were monitoring the situation closely. The Golden State Warriors, in particular, had reportedly identified him as a strong fit if roster space opened.

“If they are eventually able to offload Kuminga’s salary to an interested team, they could then set their sights on Washington as the ideal addition in their frontcourt,” Blue Man Hoop’s G.C. Bellchamber reported in late August. “Although the fit with Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green would be complicated, Washington has shown a willingness to fit his game to whatever role is needed for a contending team.”

Now, with the Mavericks securing Washington for the long term, those opportunities are gone. Golden State will have to look elsewhere, as Dallas doubled down on their belief that Washington is a crucial part of their system moving forward.

The extension also sends a clear signal to the rest of the league: PJ Washington is central to Dallas’ plans. His versatility, defense, and ability to stretch the floor made him one of the most underrated free-agent targets. The Warriors may have admired the fit, but the Mavericks made sure to close the door before any serious talks could begin.
