Mike Brown still doesn’t forget his $100 due from Los Angeles Clippers coach Ty Lue. The fun part? 27 years have passed, but someone’s lying about this $100 bet from the Clinton administration.

Wednesday’s Knicks-Clippers postgame presser literally turned into a collection court when Brown revived their decades-old beef. The New York Knicks coach looked dead at the camera and pleaded for help tracking down his Benjamin.

The clash was a bit weird, as on paper, New York looked extremely strong, entering with a 23-13 record, whereas the Clippers sat at 13-22. But the irony? Brown’s squad was riding a four-game skid, while Lue’s unit won seven of eight before facing the Knicks.
So, it was very hard to predict who would have the last laugh. But with a 123-111 victory, Knicks snapped their losing streak and shut down all the speculations. However, the real entertainment came after the final buzzer.
A reporter asked Brown about the legendary shooting contest from 1998. Just to recap, Brown lost the bet to Lue when they were both grinding as assistant coaches. The story’s been floating around NBA circles for years. But Wednesday night, Brown turned it into performance art.
He played dumb at first. Then he flipped the script like a WWE villain cutting a promo. “Ty you making $14 million this year? I think it was just $100. Who’s here from the Clippers media? Please, help me get my money,” Brown said.

The camera angle couldn’t have been better. Brown looked straight into the lens, kept a straight face, but barely hid a smile. Then he stood up after seeking help to get back the money and walked out of the press room without taking any follow-up questions.
Lue’s side of the story claims he’s tried paying Brown repeatedly over the years, but Brown always refuses to take the cash. That’s the genius move from Knicks HC, who didn’t accept that one hundred bucks to roast his buddy on national television after 27 years.

Brown could theoretically claim interest at this point, running the juice since 1998 for a much bigger payday. But in the video, it was clear he was lying — the 55-year-old couldn’t hide his smile, so he walked off the presser without taking any further questions.
Following Wednesday’s convincing W, Brown got that fresh energy to make class fun about his old buddy. His team handled business on the floor and he cooked Lue in the press room. That’s called real championship pedigree.
