Rapper Fat Joe has become a big fan of Karl-Anthony Towns since he was traded to the New York Knicks before the start of the 2024-25 NBA season. In a clip from the show “7PM in Brooklyn,” the rapper spoke highly of Towns and told former player Carmelo Anthony that the star is the greatest offensive big man ever.
Towns’ name isn’t usually mentioned when talking about being one of the greatest to ever do it. However, his recent play with the Knicks has earned him new fans, with some even calling him one of the greatest offensive players.
“I don’t think I’ve seen a better offensive big man in my life than KAT,” the rapper said. “I’ve sat in the game and watch KAT do ten moves. You cannot know what he’s gonna give you. Hit them with the left, hit them with the right, spin on you this way, this way, that way. That’s impossible to guard. He’s dumb.”
“I’m talking about [Hakeem] Olajuwon. Shaq is the most dominant big man, but he doing [that]…. My take is, he’s too hard to guard. If he was at the Rucker, they would call him ‘Too Hard To Guard’.”
Fat Joe even told Anthony that his iconic jab step move was predictable. However, he said that it was simply unstoppable.
“You’re little jab step, they know what you gonna do. They mad cause they can’t stop it. I watch the guy do ten of those moves. I was like, ‘Holy s**t.’ I’m telling you, this guy’s special.”

With the Knicks, the Dominican big man has played 23 games, averaging 24.9 points, 13.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists. Even without defensive big man Mitchell Robinson, New York has been able to hold their own, thanks to how KAT has played.
Karl-Anthony Towns compares the Knicks to the LeBron James-led Miami Heat
The New York Knicks have performed well this season, clinching a 15-10 record in the East, which is good enough for the fourth seed. However, there have been some hurdles for the team, especially on Wednesday, when they lost against the Atlanta Hawks in the quarter-final round of the Emirates NBA Cup.
Following their 108-100 defeat, KAT told the media that it would take time for them to find a good rhythm and compared the Knicks to the Miami Heat when they had LeBron James.
“Miami Heat years ago with LeBron had a whole year it took before they figured out how to put a banner up. I don’t have a crystal ball. I can tell you that every day we’re working to be the best version of ourselves,” KAT said.

Even with a few struggles along the way, Towns and the Knicks have done well this season.
